SURAMADU
Suramadu National Bridge is a bridge that crosses the Madura Strait, connecting the island of Java (in Surabaya) and
Madura Island (in Bangkalan, exactly east Kamal), Indonesia. With a length of 5,438 m, this bridge is the longest bridge
in Indonesia today. Longest bridge consists of three parts, namely the overpass (causeway), bridges (bridge approach),
and the main bridge (main bridge).
The bridge was inaugurated by the President of the start of construction Megawati Sukarnoputri on August 20, 2003 and its
opening was inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on June 10, 2009 [2]. Construction of the bridge is
intended to accelerate development in Madura Island, covering the infrastructure and economy in Madura, which is
relatively low compared to other areas in East Java. The estimated cost of construction of this bridge is 4.5 trillion dollars.
