Sewu Temple (candi Sewu)
Sewu Temple Complex is located in Prambanan Temple area. It is about 800m from Prambanan Temple.
Sewu Temple is Buddha Temple, the second largest Buddha Temple in Central Java.
The fact that this Buddha Temple located side by side with Hindu Temple shows that Hindu and Buddha people
lived together harmoniously at those time.
Based on inscription written on stone (prasasti) from 792 AD that was found in 1960, the name of this temple
complex was "Manjus'rigrha" (Manjusri House). Manjusri is one of Bodhisattvas in Buddhism.
